the heading of Stillingfleet United Churches,  gives a formal structure to certain aspects of our working together, cementing the bonds of the things we do well together, while accepting and respecting the differing preferences in relation to aspects of worship and approach.

The parish of St Helen’s is part of a three-church Benefice,  the other churches of which are  in the nearby villages of Naburn and Escrick. Stillingfleet itself is situated about seven miles south of York. The Rector of the Benefice is Richard Kirkman. It also acts as the centre of worship for the nearby village of Kelfield.

Via our representation at Deanery Synod and participation in the election of lay members to the national Synod, we continue to make a small contribution to the church's life nationally.

Worship

Worship follows a monthly pattern: traditional Holy Communion is celebrated on the first and third Sunday of the month at 09.30 hrs.

The Family Service is held  on the second Sunday of the month at 09.30 hrs.  The family service in particular continues to act as a point of contact with the church for parents and children in the village, many of whom do not ordinarily participate in worship. It is worth emphasising, however, that parents and  children are welcome at all our services.

Evensong is held  at 18.30 hrs in church  in even months and in the Methodist Church, just across the bridge, in odd months.

There are a variety of arrangements for months in which there is a fifth Sunday.

Visitors are very welcome to all our services and at other times. The church is normally open to visitors during daylight hours throughout the week and at weekends.
